Benefits at Academia
Statutory Parenthood Leave
According to Ministry of Manpower guidelines, all staff that have been with Academia for at least 3 months before the birth of their child are entitled to paid Maternity or Paternity leave. At the time of writing, for employees whose children are Singaporeans, the entitlement is 16 weeks of paid Maternity or 2 weeks of paid Paternity leave. For employees whose children are not Singaporean, the entitlement is 12 weeks of paid Maternity leave. Parents may also be entitled to shared parental leave, according to the Ministry of Manpower guidelines.
The above entitlements are accurate at the time of writing, but the most up-to-date guidelines and entitlements can be found on the Ministry of Manpower website, and should be relied on when planning your Maternity or Paternity leave. Additional Parenthood Leave
For all staff that have been with Academia for at least a year before the birth of their child, Academia offers an additional 4 weeks of paid Parenthood leave on top of the statutory requirement, regardless of whether Maternity or Paternity leave, Singaporean or non-Singaporean. We believe that this extra leave allocation will help both mothers and fathers with the transitional process and bonding that comes with a new child.
Childcare Leave
Employees are entitled to up to 6 days a year of childcare leave, capped at a total of 42 days, according to Ministry of Manpower guidelines. In addition, employees may be entitled to extended childcare leave. As with statutory Maternity and Paternity entitlements, the most up-to-date guidelines and entitlements for childcare leave can be found on the Ministry of Manpower website, and should be relied on when planning your childcare leave.
Parenthood Package
In addition to the above benefits, Academia offers a Parenthood bonus package of $2,500 cash for all employees who have been with Academia for at least a year before the birth of their child, to help cover hospitalisation and consultation costs. This parenthood bonus is paid upon birth of the child.
